The Northwest Airlines History Center held a “Coffee and Conversation” event on August 6, 2011 to bring together a number of retired staff who had worked to open the route from Minneapolis, across Canada and Alaska, to Japan, Korea, China, and the Philippines in 1947, and bring the operation up to steady and strong performance in the years to come.

The event was hosted by renowned Captain Norm Midthun, with stories from 11 other Northwest staff, as well as a slide show of photos taken in those pioneering times from sites like Tokyo and Shemya Island, Alaska.

Running time is 1 hour, 51 minutes. File format is MP4; 4:3 framing; 30 fps.
