Over 50 years of footage are brought together in this bundle of historic NWA promotional films, home movie clips, and company internal motivational videos.
We start in 1932 with rare movies of the Ford Tri-Motor at the St. Paul base and a flight from the Twin Cities to Chicago, meeting crew members and passengers. At Chicago Midway other clips from the later 1930s show the Lockheed 10A and 14H. Clips from the Fargo station 1938-1940 display not just aircraft but many NWA executives, station staff, Pilots, and maintenance crew. Many staffers from these clips are identified by name.
1941 footage of a DC-3 flight from Chicago to Minneapolis to Seattle is played, including scenes from the MSP maintenance shops and dispatch office, plus a view of the Link Trainer in action.
Further footage shows a 1947 DC-4 flight to Anchorage, the Martin 202 in 1948, and a series of Stratocruiser shorts from 1949 into the early 1950s, including promotional movies for the Hawaiian Express, including Honolulu scenes, and the Orient Express, featuring Tokyo scenes.
Mid-1950s clips of the DC-7C, DC-6B, and Constellation are shown, plus 1950s film of Hong Kong. Moving ahead, film of the Electra II and 707-320 are joined with more scenes from Honolulu plus early 1960s footage from Manila.
We jump ahead to a series of promotional and internal videos from just after the Republic merger in 1986, showing aircraft at the MSP hub, a discussion of Northwest's historic Air Freight business, early 747-400 footage, lengthy footage of the Tokyo-Narita hub, and concluding with a company capsule history / motivational video.
